What Is EVO ICL?
The EVO Implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL) looks like a contact lens, but this refractive implant harmonizes with the natural eye to correct issues that limit vision, such as nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism, without removing any corneal tissue. EVO ICL at Capstone Vision & Aesthetics also helps to reduce or eliminate the need for eyeglasses and contacts. The Collamer lens is made with a small amount of purified collagen and the same material used for soft contact lenses, producing a soft, flexible, and biocompatible product that rests inside the eye and results in clear, sharp vision. Ideal candidates for EVO ICL in the Auburn Hills, MI area are aged 21 – 45 with nearsightedness with or without astigmatism and have maintained a stable prescription for at least one year. Capstone Vision & Aesthetics is the only vision provider in the area to offer EVO ICL. To find out if EVO ICL is an option for you, schedule a consultation with ophthalmologist Dr. Leslie Emmert-Buck for a complete exam and personalized treatment plan.
What Can I Expect From EVO ICL?
Before the procedure, Dr. Emmert-Buck will conduct a few tests to measure your eyes and take note of any unique characteristics. Next, the pupils are dilated, and numbing eye drops are administered for anesthesia. For most patients, the procedure is virtually painless with numbing drops and it typically takes about 20 – 30 minutes to perform. A small opening is made to the eye to fold then insert the lens. No tissue is removed during this process. The lens is carefully adjusted and positioned, securely placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural eye's lens. Full recovery following EVO ICL surgery is estimated to take 1 – 2 months. However, our clients typically resume daily activities in just a few short days with clearer vision. The implanted lenses are removable, if necessary, under a doctor's care.

Capstone Vision & Aesthetics Reviews
Dr. Emmert-Buck and staff are amazing. Needed cataract surgery and they walked me thru every step of the way. I also had Lasik performed to correct my nearsightedness. No more glasses or contacts!!! Fantastic Surgeon! Thank you Capstone.
Went in for LASIK consult and we settled on PRK as the path forward. Honestly the best money I think I've ever spent, both in terms of the procedure and who handled the operation. Dr. Emmert-Buck and her staff are all so wonderfully attentive and personable. There was even a self-caused issue after the procedure and Dr. Emmert-Buck was quick with being able to meet me the day it happened and help me resolve the issue. If I ever need touch ups later on in life, I know where I'm going!
Came in for LASIK consult and did PRK with Dr. Leslie Emmert-Buck. She is very nice and reliable person. Happy with what I did and highly recommended.
My visit to get a biannual check up was great. The exams started on time and procedures were explained along the way. Dr. Emmert-Buck explained results of the various exams. The entire team offered a great experience.
Hi I saw Dr Leslie for my Keracornus. She, and her staff we're very nice, patient, and explained in detail about my disease and what options were available. She referred me to kellog eye Institute if I decided to do surgery. She even called at 6pm to let me know that where I stood on the referral. Her receptionist Tanya was so nice. Her assistant was very nice. I thank her for being honest and being very patient. Diane A

Am I A Candidate for EVO ICL?
Ideal candidates for the EVO ICL are individuals seeking vision correction who are not suitable candidates for LASIK or other refractive surgeries due to factors such as thin corneas, high refractive errors, or dry eye syndrome. EVO ICL offers a safe and effective alternative for those with moderate to severe nearsightedness (myopia), astigmatism, or both. Candidates should be over 21 years old, have stable vision prescriptions for at least a year, and have healthy eyes free from conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts. Additionally, candidates should have realistic expectations regarding the outcomes of the procedure and be committed to follow-up care. Consulting with an experienced ophthalmologist like those at Capstone Vision & Aesthetics can help determine if EVO ICL is the right vision correction option for individual needs and lifestyle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the EVO ICL visible in the eye?
Once the EVO ICL is placed within the eye, it is not visible to the naked eye. This makes it a discreet option for those who may be self-conscious about wearing glasses or traditional contact lenses. Dr. Emmert-Buck can also remove the lens if necessary, but it is designed to remain in place for a lifetime.
Does the EVO ICL require any maintenance?
No, the EVO ICL does not require any special maintenance or care once the procedure is over. It is designed to remain in place and provide clear vision without any additional steps needed. At Capstone Vision & Aesthetics, we still recommend regular eye exams to ensure the health and function of your EVO ICL.
Can I have EVO ICL surgery if I have thin corneas?
Yes, one of the benefits of EVO ICL is that it is suitable for patients with thin corneas. This makes it a great option for individuals who were previously told they were not eligible for LASIK in Auburn Hills, MI. Of course, all patients still need to undergo a consultation to determine if they are a good candidate for the procedure.
Is EVO ICL suitable for individuals with dry eyes?
Yes, EVO ICL is often a good option for individuals who suffer from dry eyes. Unlike procedures like LASIK, which can exacerbate dry eye symptoms by altering the corneal surface, EVO ICL doesn't involve removing corneal tissue. This means it's less likely to impact tear production or worsen dry eye conditions, making it a preferable choice for those concerned about dry eye symptoms.
How long has EVO ICL been in use, and is it a proven technology?
EVO ICL has been used worldwide for more than a decade, with more than a million lenses implanted globally. It has a strong safety and effectiveness track record and high patient satisfaction rates. Continuous advancements and rigorous clinical studies have contributed to its reputation as a reliable vision correction option.
How does EVO ICL affect night vision?
EVO ICL has been shown to provide excellent night vision. Many patients report a reduction in issues like glare and halos around lights at night, which can be a concern with other vision correction procedures. The lens's design and material help improve visual quality in low-light conditions, enhancing overall night-time visual performance.
